Rinconada Adventures had the honor of guiding editors from Outside for the 2023 Summer Gear Guide Editor’s Choice gear testing trip. Conditions were challenging and beautiful Mt. Taylor provided a wonderful backdrop for pushing the gear (and the testers) to the limit on this backpacking epic. This “summer” gear test bordered on winter temps, but a great time was had by all.
As the crew climbed Mt. Taylor, flurries started to fly and we realized we were about to find the limits of our gear.
Spirits stayed high at camp two, but no-one got far from the fire.
24 hours later and a few thousand feet lower, the high desert sun was back. Challenging conditions build great teams and fun stories. It was a privilege to host the Outside team and we can’t wait for their return!
